Description | This package provides the /usr/lib/cgi-bin/php4 CGI interpreter built for use in apache 1.3 or apache 2 with mod_actions, or any other CGI
httpd
that
supports
a
similar
mechanism.
Note
that
MOST
apache
users probably want the libapache-mod-php4 or libapache2-mod-php4 packages. . Also included is the /usr/bin/php4-cgi binary, which can be used for more traditional "hashbang" CGI methods, and can also be used as a FastCGI backend listener (ideal for threaded webservers). . The following extensions are built in: bcmath bz2 calendar ctype dba dbx exif filepro ftp gettext iconv mbstring mime_magic openssl overload pcre posix session shmop sockets standard sysvmsg sysvsem sysvshm tokenizer wddx xml xmlrpc yp zip zlib. . PHP4 is an HTML-embedded scripting language. Much of its syntax is borrowed from C, Java and Perl with a couple of unique PHP-specific features thrown in. The goal of the language is to allow web developers to write dynamically generated pages quickly. .
